Event Organiser

Founder of Scrapaholics Sarah Mason is a natural organiser (some might say bossy but that's a good quality in successful organising) She started organising Scrapbooking retreats after attending one in Milton Keynes and believing that it was not value for money or intimate enough. The first retreat was in Dartford in 2002 and we have run 13 successful events in total so far with 2 more to go this year. Sarah was also the founder of the first Scrapaholic club in Dartford where she met Karen who became her business partner in late 2003. A network of clubs soon followed after friends saw what a great formula we had and to date we have 46 clubs around the UK and Channel Isles.

In her former life Sarah worked for the govenrment as a staff trainer, teaching people skills to those that served the public and she has taken a lot of these skills into her business and still enjoys running her club teaching new crafting techniques every month. Sarah is also known to teach the odd class at a retreat (just so she doesn't forget!) She has recently returned to work full time after a 3 year career break.

Sarah and Karen also helped Michelle Grant launch The Scrapbook Magazine and were Consultant Editors with the publishing house that bought it until their business needed them more. Sarah still contributes to the publishing world and designs for Creative Scrapbooking and a partworks (every 2 weeks) called Creative Papercrafts where her and Karen do most of the Scrapbooking section.

Sarah and Karen have also had a very successful book published called Total Scrapbooking that was released in the autumn of 2005 and has sold brilliantly worldwide. The 2nd book has just been released and can be viewed on the home page. The 3rd book is being worked on at present (more details on dates soon!)

Sarah is married to Terry - her ever suffering Scrapbook widower who is an absolute gem as he looks after their 3 children whilst she is away (which is more often than not) Although Terry doesn't "Get it" he does appreciate the love and work that goes into each Scrapbook page and it also allows him to watch as much football as he likes.

Sarah would like to give you a warm welcome to her club or any retreat.

Teaching Co-ordinator

Karen McIvor is co-owner of Scrapaholic Ltd and also runs the Meopham Scrapaholic club. Karen is in her element in the classroom and so usually spends most of the time at a retreat teaching - many times till way ofter midnight in her pyjamas for the 'Midnight Madness' classes! If there is a new technique or product out there Karen will have found a way to incorporate it into a class so that you can give it a try with someone to hold your hand. Karen is a qualified trainer with many years of teaching experience in adult education which she draws upon to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere in the classroom.

Together with Sarah, Karen has written three very popular books, Total Scrapbooking, The Encyclopaedia of Scrapbooking Techniques and Chalking and Stamping using Scrapbooks. She has also written and designed for a host UK scrapbooking and craft magazines. Karen has appeared on the Ideal World television channel on a number of occasions - something she thoroughly enjoyed as it gave her the chance to share her passion for her craft and to have fun doing what she loves to do best!

Karen is partner to Dave who is an absolute godsend as he is the most supportive and encouraging man you could meet - and you sometimes might just meet him!! And most of all - he gets it and loves her work, particularly those pages that feature their three children.

Karen offers you a warm welcome and looks forward to seeing you in class!

THE fairy Godmother!

Our Fairy Godmother

Hi everyone, I’m Pauline, housewife and mother of 19 year old twins, I was introduced to scrapbooking about two and a half years ago. When I first joined the Dartford Scrapaholic club and I had no idea how involved I would become. At our Scrapaholic weekends my role is classroom manager, a position I enjoy as I am able to meet everyone during the weekend. My aim during the weekend is to make everything run as smoothly as possible for the delegates and the designers, so if you need anything in the class just ask and I will do my best to solve the problem.
